The storm – The photos.

 Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

After we had a blessed spiritual time at the Global Day Of Prayer event in May, now we are a bit discouraged because of last Saturday’s calamity – storm of hail – over our town and the huge damages as a result of it especially over Kazanlak.

The cars windows and top of most cars were smashed, as well the roofs of buildings and many other things like PVC tables, chairs, anything left outside. The whole town was covered with leaves and branches of trees. The hail started suddenly so we could not take any precautions. In the beginning the storm hail was as big as a walnut and then as big as eggs destroying with great power everything. (This happened on the same day after there was a pagan celebration at Kazanlak’ central square honouring the Thracian kings who used to rule in our lands in the past and one of the guest’s mention a pagan god to be a protector of Kazanlak. When we heard this statement we felt God’s wrath over it.)

While we were busy fighting with the rain coming through the roof of our house, I received an phone call that something terrible is going on in the church building. After the worse of 10 minutes of storm hail had passed, we ran to see what is the situation with the church building. Few people from the church came to help too. The roof was completely broken and the rain was flooding the whole building through the ceiling. We were taking out water for about 6 hours as the situation was worse in the main hall where the ceiling made of gypsum-carton was falling down near our heads from about 8 metres hight. Other people were cleaning the rooms of the Bible school and the library where situation was similar with big damages and all books were wet. The next day on Sunday we had our church meeting and Lord’s supper in the small hall in the basement where the damages were less. Because of a further danger of more rain causing more damages in the church building, we have no other choice but do something about the roof first. So, I went to Stara Zagora seeking advice about the best way and of course best price to cover the roof. This is an urgency so I start borrowing money to buy the materials. Since the price would be double if we hire an company to fix it, I and other brothers from the church started doing it. Besides, many other people experience the same problems with their roofs made of material called oundulin, and the companies can’t keep up with so much work.

What we are doing first, which is most urgent is covering the roof outside with two layers of insulational materials which is required and price is 13 EUR per 1 sqaure meter. We will place first wooden planes to which we should fix the sheet-iron for a roof. The damaged roof area is 500 square meters (above the church building and social center), so we need urgently 6 500 EUR at this present moment to save the building from more damage (last night has been raining all night again and we got more problems and damages and we are clearing things out non stop). Later we will have to fix the fallen ceiling too but this is what is most urgent now. It seems the trials we are going through are big but we are blessed to know and feel in the spirit God is in control and see us through this all.
